During the Open Balkans Summit in Ohrid, Prime Minister Edi Rama and his Montenegrin counterpart Dritan Abazovic presented the new project. It is a bridge over the Bojana River that will connect Velipoja with Ulcinj and will be a joint project of the two governments.
Abazovic has expressed his happiness for the media for this project, as he shows that he has discussed this with Prime Minister Rama in Tirana.
"I am very happy for this project and this is something we talked about in Tirana last summer. Now we are very close to starting the realization of this idea. Montenegro has allocated a part of this year's budget only for the construction of this "We will sign a Memorandum of Cooperation which will specify the obligations of both parties," Abazovic said.
While introducing us to the project photos on Twitter, Abazovic writes that: "This would not only reduce the distance between cities and countries, but would also enrich the tourist offer of those areas. We bring citizens closer, strengthen the economy! The goal is development of the country from north to sea! " .
Even the Prime Minister Edi Rama has considered this as a fantastic project, as he said that the construction of this bridge would enable a much better communication between the two countries.
"We need to create an agreement and understand each other's total budget for this investment. We are pro and the project is fantastic. The bridge would enable a much better communication between the two countries," Rama stressed.
The current distance between Ulcinj and Velipoja is about 73 km and with the construction of the bridge it would be reduced to about one kilometer.
