Rama meets residents after the fires in Himara

Prime Minister Edi Rama was in Himara this afternoon, in the area affected by the fire last night, where he saw firsthand the situation and the engagement on the ground.

The Prime Minister met and thanked the Civil Emergencies, Armed Forces, fire services and all structures engaged in dealing with the situation and protecting the lives of residents and property.

We recall that yesterday evening a large fire broke out in the hills of Himara, causing quite a bit of panic among residents, but also tourists.

The situation became critical and the authorities asked residents to leave their homes if they saw that their lives were in danger.

It was Mayor Vangjel Tavo himself who made this call and also published the contact numbers where citizens could seek emergency assistance.

Despite the intervention of the authorities and the continuous work throughout the night, six apartments were completely destroyed, while fortunately, there were no lives lost or injuries.

Authorities have promised today that residents in Himara, but also those in Fier or in areas affected by the fires, will be compensated.
