The SP MP, Erion Braçe, has reacted after the fire that broke out in the building at the "Arlis" complex. He calls for a thorough investigation and full responsibility, and demands a review of the status of the firefighters. On the other hand, Braçe says that he was at the scene, where he was introduced to the difficult conditions in which the firefighters work. According to him, the firefighters who serve 24 hours a day do not even have guaranteed food, at a time when, as he says, endless money is allocated for an army of civil servants.
"I was, I stood, I saw, I listened, I received explanations at the burned-down building yesterday! I have two things to say: First, I went to thank and express my endless gratitude to Commander Jonuz Murataj and the men of his unit, all firefighters!
I realized while talking to them that gratitude is not enough. We have left them without many things, of course the things that are missing are not material; they are all necessary to facilitate and appreciate the work, the effort, the sacrifice, the lives put at risk to save the lives of people in danger, like yesterday.
Did you know that firefighters who work 24 hours a day don't get food, they don't have a food quota? I learned that today, to my shame! We allocate endless money for an army of civil servants and don't care about this category of public servants who jump in to save people's lives without food or water?!
"The first and most fundamental thing that needs to be done is to review their status. We need a completely different status for firefighters - legal, economic, social, and it needs to be done now," says Braçe.
As for the fire that broke out the day before near Pharmacy 10 in Tirana, he requested a full and comprehensive investigation into all factors that may have influenced the spread of the flames, including the construction project, the materials used, deviations from the permit, as well as the functioning of the security, energy and facade systems.
"A complete and comprehensive, professional investigation into every element with an impact on the spread of fire in this residential complex - project, construction, deviation from the project, construction materials, implementation of engineering rules in construction, legalization, systems and their functionality - including facade, energy, aspiration, fire safety systems, sales of premises and their destination in accordance with the project!
"Every element contributed to the spread of the fire yesterday, the burning and endangering the lives of the people there, all the others who helped and saved them by taking endless risks! I have said it and I will repeat it: This city, also because of its expensiveness, deserves a completely different standard," he says.
