After the tragedy that happened yesterday afternoon on the beach of Vilë-Bashtova, where the father Elvis Halilaj drowned, together with his 2 minor sons, 13 and 17 years old, today the police arrested Pëllumb Nika, the administrator of the part of the beach where the 3 drowned family members.

The 34-year-old, who had rented from the municipality of Rrogozhina, the administration of the beach plot, had not fulfilled the security conditions according to the contract between the economic operator and the National Coastal Agency.

Following the investigative actions for the event that occurred at noon on 07/09/2023, on the beach of Vilë-Bashtova, where 3 citizens (a father and his two minor sons) lost their lives from drowning in the sea, the investigative structures of the Police Station Kavajë arrested in the act the citizen PN, 34 years old, resident in Tirana, administrator of the tourist operator who had rented from the municipality of Rrogozhinë, the part of the beach of Vilë-Bashtova, where this incident took place.

The arrest of the 34-year-old was made after the investigative actions carried out in the field showed that this citizen, in the capacity of the administrator of the beach plot rented from the Rrogozhin municipality, had not met the security conditions according to the contract concluded between the economic operator and the National Coastal Agency (contract approved by the Ministry of Tourism), and as a result, citizens EH, 50 years old, RH, 17 years old and MH, 13 years old, residents of Tirana, drowned in the sea.

The materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Durrës, for further action.

The State Police appeals to all operators who have benefited from service contracts along the coastline, to exercise their activity in fulfilling the obligations for the safety of the lives of vacationers and to take immediate measures to improve the safety conditions even more, as the State Police The state will not tolerate in any case, such violations that affect the safety and life of vacationers on the beaches.
