NAMES/ Killed her father-in-law and hid him in a suitcase, 30 years in prison

An Italian court has sentenced Elona Kalesh, the 38-year-old Albanian woman accused of murdering and dismembering Shpëtim and Teuta Pasho, the parents of her ex-fiancé Taulant Pasho, who had been missing since October 2015, to 30 years in prison.

The bodies of the couple were discovered in December 2020, in several abandoned suitcases on a plot of land between the Florentine prison of Sollicciano and the Florence-Pisa-Livorno highway.

The disappearance of the Pasho couple, who had gone to Italy to visit their son, who was released from prison on November 2, 2015, was reported by Pasho's daughter to the Carabinieri of Castelfiorentino (Florence), where she lives and where her parents' bodies now rest.

How the incident happened:

On Thursday afternoon (May 4, 2023), the Court of Florence sentenced Elona Kalesh to 30 years in prison for double murder and mutilation of corpses.

Meanwhile, the prosecution had requested life imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, based on investigations, the 38-year-old woman killed her father-in-law the night before Taulant was released from prison.

She committed the crime in the apartment she had rented specifically for her fiancé's parents in Florence.

Elona killed them because she was afraid they would tell her son that his partner had had an abortion while he was in prison, a child conceived by someone else.

For Kalesh's defense lawyer, she should be released because " it is not known whether she killed them, with whom she killed them, and why she killed them ."
