The £70,000 Audi, penchant for Louis Vuitton and other signs of a millionaire lifestyle seemed no match for Rasvinder Agalliu's police salary. She claimed the funds came from her husband Julian's job as a chef for professional footballers, but he was also a major drug dealer who used the criminal app Encrochat to trade cocaine and cannabis.
Agalliu, a former miss who worked for the Metropolitan Police for more than 15 years, was sacked after a disciplinary panel rejected her claim that she had no knowledge of his criminal activities. The case came to light after her husband, an Albanian who boasted of contacts for her work with the force, was found guilty on Friday of conspiracy to supply drugs.
When the National Crime Agency broke into Encrochat, an illegal communications system for criminals, they discovered messages referring to arms deals and 100kg packages of cocaine disguised as watchmaker Hublot. Police raided the couple's home in Enfield, north London, in June 2020 and found cocaine, including on her David Lloyd gym card and in a Louis Vuitton case, digital scales and more than £15,000 in cash.
A Met radio, assigned to an officer who left the force months ago, was found in her bag. She claimed she was reassigned without changing her name. Agalliu, who was stationed at the Northwest Base Command, was found guilty of several misconduct charges and was fired in November.
Sir Mark Rowley, the Met commissioner who took office in September, has promised to root out officers who are corrupt or who do not meet standards.
Agalliu had insisted that he had no knowledge of the cocaine, which was found in the bedroom, as he was sleeping in another room. She claimed that the gym card with the cocaine was an old one that she thought she had lost and that she had not seen items such as scales and money. Her lawyer said the couple lived separate lives. Agalliu said the drugs could have been planted by someone at a recent party.
The jury dismissed her defense as lacking credibility, particularly given the couple's "lavish lifestyle" which included a £5,000-a-month rental property and luxury vehicles. Photos on social media showed Agalli wearing luxury fashion labels and patrolling in full uniform outside Buckingham Palace. She was also a personal trainer who showed YouTube viewers how to create the "perfect butt" and earlier this year she was crowned Miss Enfield in the classic category of the Miss UK National pageant.
He also criticized her "attitude towards keeping police property" after Met equipment, including handcuffs and a vest, was found at the couple's second empty property nearby. The panel concluded: " The clear conclusion we draw from the evidence presented is that on the balance of probabilities, [Julian Agalliu] is a class A drug user and was testing the quality of the drug and it is inconceivable that his wife did not know. " Julian Agalliu was found guilty at Woolwich Crown Court and will be sentenced on February 9.
