Divorce rates continue to rise in Korça!

During 2024, 750 divorce requests were registered at the first instance court in Korça, almost double the number of requests registered in 2023. The causes remain the same, with the most related to emigration, poverty, and violence.

According to lawyer Mateo Balli, what is noticeable is that in cases related to immigration, divorce also occurs in couples who have been married for a long time, while in cases of marriages where both partners live in the country, it is young couples who turn to the court more for marriage solutions.

In 2023, 402 requests for marriage dissolution were registered in the Korça court, while last year 750 requests were registered, which highlights the social problems that arise from divorce, including children, Top Channel reports.
