Durim Bami is one of the most sought-after figures in Albanian justice, also considered the 'strongman' of Nikla.

Rumored in many serious criminal events, Durim Bami's name appeared in the decrypted communications of the SKY and EncroChat applications, as part of the "Revanshi" operation.

From the conversations verified by SPAK, it appears that he created the conditions for the murder of former socialist MP Arben Ndoka, Hektor Xheçukës and Erigers Mihas.

Bami himself has been targeted by several criminal groups, who despite their efforts have not been able to physically eliminate him.

In November 2020, Bami escaped an assassination attempt in Tapizë, Fushë-Krujë, where the vehicle he was traveling in was shot at with a hail of bullets. His cousin, Ervin Kodra, who was a passenger, was injured.

In February 2021, Bami, together with Endrit Doklen and Marklen Haka, planned the murder of Tori Xhecuka and Erigers Mihas, a friend of Ervis Martinaj who was killed in Tirana.

His name is also involved in the cultivation of narcotics in the Kruja area.

According to SPAK, Durim Bami led and financed a group that cultivated cannabis in Nikël and Bubq during December 2019–July 2020 and again in September 2020, administering the entire activity.

He was assisted by former RENEA officer Altin Morina (arrested) and other unidentified persons, who provided inside information and avoided police checks.

Who is Durim Bami:

Durim Bami, one of the leaders of the seven gangs investigated in the voluminous file made possible thanks to communications carried out on the SKY ECC application, was recently arrested in Dubai on behalf of the Albanian authorities, the State Police announced.

Bami, 45, is accused of organizing and ordering the attempted murder of former Socialist MP Arben Ndoka, after the latter organized an assassination attempt against him in November 2020.

SPAK struck seven criminal groups and filed charges against fifty suspects in May of this year, one of the most extensive strikes against organized crime structures in the country, which extended their activity to a large part of the territory, from Shkodra to Lezhë, Mamurras, Fushë-Krujë, Rrëshen, Burrel, Tirana, Shijak, Durrës, Fier and Vlorë, unraveling eighteen criminal episodes, an investigation that was made possible thanks to the assistance of partner countries as well as the institutions Eurojust and Europol.

According to the file, which includes criminal activities spanning just over a year from early 2020 to early 2021, Bami was targeted for execution by Arben Ndoka, because Ndoka suspected him of orchestrating the murder of his brother Aleksandër Ndoka.

The assassination attempt on Bami in November 2020 failed, which led to plans on Bami's part to kill Arben Ndoka.

Bami, who became known in 2015 after former MP Tom Doshi presented him to the public and to the authorities, as a hired killer who had received orders to kill Doshi but had decided not to do it.

In the seven gangs' dossier, Bami is presented as a powerful businessman who orders and organizes murders, cultivates cannabis in huge quantities and in a vast territory from the Adriatic coast to the Kruja highlands, and bribes various police officers for a variety of issues, from allowing loud music at his favorite bar in Tirana to not reporting crimes or delaying inspections against drug cultivation.

He appears in a case as a real estate agent when an unidentified person asks him for help in selling a business premises in Tirana "to one of the guys from England" with an area of 240 square meters and a price of 4 thousand euros per square meter.

Bami's communications to Sky ECC suggest that he found the potential buyer quickly by presenting the offer as very good since, in the Paris Commune area, where the property for sale was located, according to Bami, prices reach 7 thousand euros per square meter.

Extraditions from Dubai have proven difficult for Albania, which has made this Middle Eastern country a destination for many Albanian crime figures.

Bami is one of the few gang leaders who has been arrested so far. Other leaders, such as Arben Ndoka or Xhelal Rraja, remain at large.

What is "Pandora's box"?

Pandora's Box is an artifact in Greek mythology associated with the myth of Pandora in Hesiod's "Works and Days".

In the original story, we were not dealing with a box, but with a jar that was mistranslated to become "box".

In modern times it has the meaning of "a source of many great and unexpected troubles", or even "a gift that seems valuable but is in reality a curse".

According to Hesiod, when Prometheus stole fire from heaven, Zeus, the king of the gods, took revenge by giving Pandora to Prometheus' brother Epimetheus.

Pandora opened the jar that contained disease, death, and every evil that was then released into the world./ VoxNews
