Ilir Beqaj's defense lawyer, Ermal Yzeiraj, gave a short interview to journalists after his release from GJKKO.

"Arrest in prison" measures have been taken for him for corruption with EU funds in SASPAC. The lawyer said that Beqaj does not avoid justice, while all this is an attempt for 3 purposes.

" Mr. Beqaj and the other persons clarified the fact that in cooperation SASPAC and the Ministry of Culture had organized an event and the reason why a joint event had two invoices that appear to be published items, but in fact it is due to the event from the first day onwards, the hall was divided into several microphones, panels and several translations. Mr. Beqaj also explained to the court that this is an attempt to denigrate him as a figure, to bring him out as a person who can be accused even of the most minimal, of the smallest thefts, to prevent Mr. Beqaj from continuing to work on the issue of sterilization in court and to prevent his declaration in the Assembly" .

The lawyer was asked by whom this attempt is being made, which he thinks is the prosecution body.

" In our opinion, it is precisely the prosecuting body which has a personal interest in the case of Mr. Beqaj, because this is how SPAK's activity began, with the reports against Mr. Beqaj. The failure of the main issues such as "Sterilization" and "Check up" for the charge is very significant .

As for the total value of the fraud, the lawyer said that he has asked the court several times, but has not received a figure as an answer.

"It is unclear the amount of money that it is claimed that Beqaj has benefited and there is no answer from SPAK regarding this. Without answering how much is the amount, you cannot file charges against Mr. Beqaj ", he concluded.
