The explosion of a gas cylinder at a gas station in the Bërryl area of ​​Tirana caused significant material damage and the injury of three employees. The Director of the Tirana Fire Department, Shkëlqim Goxhaj, has provided details about the intervention of the fire service after the alarm about the event.

Goxhaj said that the fire service was immediately notified in the operations room, while the two closest stations were activated at the scene.

According to him, firefighters arrived within minutes and found that both the gas station and the office buildings had collapsed as a result of the explosion. There was also flames when they arrived.

"We had a gas explosion. The fire service was notified in the operating room and the two closest stations were activated. In a few minutes they arrived at the scene and it was found that the gas station and the office premises had collapsed due to the explosion, and there was also a fire. In a few minutes everything was brought under control. The explosion occurred inside the gas station offices", declared the director of the Tirana Fire Department, Shkëlqim Goxhaj.

Meanwhile, the three fuel workers who were injured in the explosion have been transported to the hospital and, according to the Police, are out of danger.


The investigation team continues to work to fully clarify the circumstances and determine the cause of the explosion.
