The Secretary General of the Freedom Party, Tedi Blushi, has published the letter from former President Ilir Meta in which he informed lawyer Kujtim Cakrani of the decision to no longer be represented by him.

Meta says that the burden of his case on the merits and before the ECHR has made him decide to have a lawyer who deals exclusively with him, without other commitments. 

"Thanking you for your cooperation so far and hoping for your understanding, due not only to your numerous and increased commitments, while the burden of my case, not only in substance, but also for the ECHR, requires updated and permanent commitment, I have decided to have a lawyer who will deal only with my case and who will be at my disposal at all times," writes the PL chairman.

In the letter, he asks Cakran to hand over the materials to Blushi, while his sister will take care of the financial expenses. He also writes that he will notify the Special Court about the change of defense.

"With special consideration," Meta writes to Cakran at the end of the letter.

In the post, Blushi writes that Meta did not want to make the issue public, but this announcement is being published to quell any speculation. He says that any interpretation is an attempt to divert attention from the protests for Zvërnec and the 5 demands of the protesters.

Blushi underlines that for two months, SPAK and GJKKO have not given the former prime minister the case archive, delaying the start of the proceedings at the Strasbourg Court.

"For ethical and integrity reasons, the President of the Freedom Party, Mr. Ilir Meta, did not want to make public an issue that is not of public interest, such as the case of the protection of Zvërnec or other protected areas, but which was related only to his relationship with his former lawyer, Mr. Kujtim Cakrani.

However, to put an end to any speculation, I am obliged to make public the announcement that, at Mr. Meta's request, I sent 24 hours ago to Attorney Cakrani.

Any interpretation beyond the content of this announcement is an attempt to divert attention from the protests, not only for the protection of Zvërnec and other protected areas, but also from the five main demands of the protesters, who have currently surrounded the Parliament.

Meanwhile, for two months, SPAK and GJKKO have used every procedural means in violation of the law, to prevent Mr. Meta from making the necessary archive of the case available, deliberately delaying the start of the proceedings at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. Patronage is not born, but becomes a patronage and today Edi Rama needs them more , "writes Blushi.

A day earlier, a statement from Cakran's law firm said that the relationship between Meta's lawyer and the lawyer was terminated due to the loss of mutual trust and lack of cooperation between the parties. The decision was made after the last court session and in accordance with the ethical rules of the profession, it continued.
