The newly elected American president, Donald Trump, is continuing to select people for key positions in his administration.

He has chosen John Ratcliffe as the new director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

" I look forward to John being the first person to serve in both of the nation's highest intelligence positions. He will be a fearless fighter for the constitutional rights of all Americans while ensuring the highest levels of national security and peace... " Trump wrote.

But who is John Ratcliffe?

Ratcliffe is known for his strong ties to the Albanian community in the US.

In 2016, Ratcliffe was present and spoke as a special guest at the "Nationwide Economic Forum of the Albanian Diaspora" in New York, organized by the Albanian-American network.

In some other meetings, photos of Ratcliffe are seen with Pandeli Majko, former Minister of the Diaspora of Albania and with Fatmir Mediu, former Minister of Defense in Albania.

Officials from Kosovo also had meetings with him, including members of the Assembly of Kosovo.

Congressman Ratcliffe is close friends with Albanian businessmen in America. This is proven by the photos posted on social networks by these businessmen.

In the first term of President Trump, the chairman of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, welcomed the selection of John Ratcliffe as head of the American Intelligence.

" Kosovo is lucky to have the USA on its side, and in terms of security, it belongs to the world led by America. We are determined to strengthen the already built partnership in the field of security. Ratcliffe is very well informed about Kosovo and familiar with the developments in our region ", Haradinaj wrote at that time.
