At a meeting with the country's mayors in Durrës, Rama said that the weakness of local government has already come to light. In his speech, the prime minister directed criticism at the mayor of Vlora, while stating that starting from the mayor and others in line, their eyes are half open and half closed.
" I will make a general address of some key issues that unfortunately large cities with a special load of tourist flow in Albania have today.
The weakness of local government has also come to light as a result of a major change in the entire way the country functions, because the country no longer only supports its own residents, but also supports an extra load of tourists that brings new complicated challenges and large extra burdens for local government.
"One of the things that is noticeable is the internal incentive of business to cross borders in the form of land grabbing, to illegal construction in territories where attention is less, or like in Vlora where the mayor has his eyes half open and half closed ," said Rama.
