A young Albanian has been sentenced by British justice, after being caught in a cannabis farm. It is about the citizen identified as Klodjan Kaboli.

The local media reports that the 25-year-old man stated before the court that he had been there for 6 months and that he had arrived illegally by truck. He did not have a passport and was initially sent to a house of construction workers. He stayed there for about six weeks before settling at the London Road address. He was given the job of watering cannabis plants to pay off a debt for his father's travel expenses and medical fees.

He said he was involved in collecting cannabis plants. He received money for food and was only allowed to leave to buy food. He said he was given around £400 on three occasions. He further added that his family had been threatened.

Kaboli, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to producing cannabis. His lawyer said that Kaboli's father is not well in Albania and needs medical treatment that the family was unable to afford.

"He was promised a job in the UK. At first there was work and he stayed with a group of Albanian construction workers. But after a few months he moved to Chesterton. He was scared of threats."

Judge David Fletcher said: "I am satisfied that it was a cannabis-growing operation capable of producing significant quantities for commercial use. You were performing a limited function under the direction and some pressure or obligation placed on you. You have had some awareness of the scale of the operation."

Judge Fletcher ordered the forfeiture of 155 pounds and the confiscation and destruction of the cannabis plants and growing equipment.

Kaboli was jailed for nine months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, while the prosecutor said Kaboli was discovered after residents in the nearby area raised concerns about cannabis growing.
