The former chief inspector of IMT in Durrës, Ardian Halili, was remanded in prison by the court today.

He was arrested after building a luxury resort called "Saint Michelle Residence" on Cape Rodoni without permission.

The 55-year-old is accused of "Illegal construction for profit", "Corruption of senior officials" and "Abuse of office" for the resort built from 2018 to 2021, a time when Halili was also at the head of IMT.

The resort collapsed on Friday afternoon with a controlled explosion, just two days after his arrest by Durres police.

The court set the security measure for Halil, whose case has attracted public attention due to the scale of the illegal construction, abuse of office, and possible corruption.
