Former prosecutor Shkëlqim Hajdari, invited to the show "Breaking" with journalist Fiori Dardha on Top News, spoke about the work that the Special Prosecutor's Office (SPAK) is doing with the investigation of politicians who were considered "untouchable".

Appreciating the work of SPAK, Hajdari said that the "myth of impunity" that had lasted throughout these years of political transition was finally being broken. But he emphasized, among other things, some of the urgent problems that need to be solved in the district prosecutor's offices and the one of Appeal.

"Albania has entered a new era. The myth of impunity is being broken. The first problems in the first instance prosecutions are the necessary time they should have available in the framework of the reformation that was made. We reduced the number of district prosecutor's offices, but it is even more difficult to introduce the full efficiency of the Appellate prosecutor's office, which urgently needs premises. Because the environment where they work, there is no construction volume to hold the trials. Completing the judges and prosecutors in the Court of Appeal, this also takes its own time. I hope that before August, the deputies will consider all these requests" - said Hajdari.

As for the politicians who are being investigated by SPAK, the former prosecutor said that in the past politicians did not consider calls from the prosecution even to be questioned as persons in the know.

"SPAK, with this action it is taking, is breaking the walls of the politicians and is pleasing the public a lot. We old prosecutors got tired of asking them simply as witnesses, not anymore when they realized that they could be investigated, no I'm sick, no I'm out, no come ask me in the office" - added the former prosecutor.
