Executive Director "Albanian Society for All Ages", Mira Pirdeni

The Executive Director of the "Albanian Society for All Ages", Mira Pirdeni, has made a strong denunciation regarding the inhumane conditions in which the elderly are kept in the prisons of Albania, mainly in Tirana and Fier.

While commenting on the rape of the elderly woman in Pejë, Pirdeni said during a television interview that in the Tirana asylum there have been cases where the elderly were chained. She said that they leave them without food in Fier.

"I am shocked by the behavior of young girls. We have seen this scene in our centers over and over again, chained and chained.

We have seen in Tirana that they were chained, while in the Fier asylum, we have seen cases where they were not even given bread. We have seen other such cases, but not all of them are made public. It's not just about the cameras, but the standards that a service is monitored should be focused," she said.
