Britain has decided to make it easier to obtain work visas for construction workers, in specialties such as bricklayers, roofers, tilers, plasterers and carpenters.
Britain has an urgent need for these categories after Brexit and the pandemic, where a third of construction workers from Eastern European countries have mostly left Britain since the end of 2017!
For these roles, new recruits can be paid 80% of the award for these job categories and still qualify for a UK work visa. They will also benefit from lower visa fees! These workers need to find an employer and meet the English language criterion as provided by the post-Brexit system.
This news is a golden opportunity for many Albanian builders, not only in Albania, but also in other EU countries where they work, as the rate of profit in Britain for the same work is two or three times higher per day than in Greece or Italy.
There are many Albanians in Britain, who have their own construction companies that can apply for Albanian builders wherever they live. This news is also an equally good opportunity for the Albanian state to seek and negotiate with the British authorities for the legal employment of Albanians against the illegal arrivals of Albanians in dinghies through the English Channel, along with the negative connotations of these illegal crossings for Albanians. This would also reduce organized crime's space for human trafficking.
Britain needs nearly 2 million job vacancies in construction or the tourism industry, and in the fall the list of occupations where there is a shortage of labor is expected to be revised and expanded more!
