The former mayor of Kukës, Safet Gjici, is forced to leave the premises of the cell where he is serving his sentence, for the sexual scandal with Alma Kaçi, and to be hospitalized. It is reported that for about a week Gjici has been hospitalized in a private hospital in Tirana.
According to "Dosja.al", Gjici is located on the fourth floor of the hospital in the Pathology ward.
It is also noted that family members of Gjic were seen when they went to visit the former mayor in the hospital. Gjic's health condition is still unknown, but he is currently under the care of doctors.
Even earlier, there were reports about Gjic's poor health in the cell, as well as the psychological burden that the prison environment has brought to him.
Safet Gjici was sentenced on February 7 of this year by the first degree to 3 years in prison, on application of the trial shortened to 2 years, under the charge of "abuse of duty".
Safet Gjici was initially accused of "passive corruption", as he allegedly favored Alma Kaçi, offering him financial support, by decision of the Municipal Council, on a project for sheltering and caring for stray dogs in the city.
