MEP Fredi Beleri has stated in Greek that Albania must show with deeds that it wants to be part of the European Union. 

He said that Prime Minister Edi Rama hates him and that he unjustly spent 16 months in prison in an Albanian cell. Beleri refused to speak to the Albanian media, and made the statements to the Greek media.

"The hatred that Mr. Rama has towards me and the Greek ethnic minority in Himare does not go away.

Unfortunately, Albania, a candidate country for membership in the European Union, showed today the devaluation of the European bodies in which it wants to join, but also the devaluation of the agreements it has signed to protect diplomatic missions.

I spent 16 months in an Albanian cell. These attacks do not scare me. Albania must show with deeds that it wants and must be in Europe.

This cannot be done unless the old wounds in democracy and the rule of law are closed. And if it does not respect the rights of the Greek ethnic minority," he said.
