The pit in Colverde, Como, which on Tuesday afternoon became the grave of Bardhi Brahimaj, has already been covered. That excavation was part of a common urban planning intervention, as happens in all municipalities.

And precisely for this reason it seems even more absurd that in a fraction of a second, it turned into a death trap for the 40-year-old Albanian worker, who lived alone in Lurate Caccivio.

"It is common for a company to make such excavations along the roads, but it is not common that these interventions bring casualties," commented the unions that intervened at the Colverde construction site immediately after the tragedy.

After another fatal accident in the workplace, as is happening more and more often in neighboring Italy, an even more absurd dynamic appears...

According to  the Italian media , the workers were digging in search of a pipeline. Not finding it, the excavation continued beyond the expected depth. But just as the intervention was ending, a shovel fell into the pit...

Bardhi Brahimaj was outside and went into the pit to get it. But suddenly the walls collapsed, burying and killing the Albanian instantly. Two workers and a bystander realized what was happening and tried to warn him, but it was too late. The Albanian had lost his life.
