A group of Albanians have been sentenced to prison for drug distribution. They carried out the operation in south Essex and during a police operation they were caught with cocaine and cannabis worth £200,000, a quantity of cash and a firearm.

The police operation was carried out at several different addresses in Basildon on July 27 last year. The band was known as "Albanians".

4 people were arrested. According to what the British media write, Mario Corrit, Alfonc Palajt, Dennis Hojit and Klodjan Doci were found with 1.4 kilograms of cocaine and 22 kilograms of cannabis.

On Tuesday, 27-year-old Corri was sentenced to 11 years and 4 months in prison, while 23-year-old Palaj was sentenced to 5 years and 10 months of imprisonment. In September, the court sentenced Doc and Dennis Hoji, the first to 3 years and 3 months in prison, and the second to 3 years and 5 months in prison.

“This gang flooded Basildon with class A drugs. Drugs are a blight on society, destroying lives and communities. Where drugs are sold, there is often violence and exploitation of vulnerable people. We will continue the work to put them behind bars and remove the poison they throw on the streets", said a police officer who led the investigation.

Police officers had been chasing the group after seizing a mobile phone as part of an investigation into another case. There was found the link and conversations talking about a drug sale.
