Emiljano Nina, cousin of former gambling boss Ervis Martinaj, arrested. Nina was arrested at the door of Ilir Selmani's house. The latter was sentenced to 26 years in prison for the murder of former police officer Santiago Malko, and was placed under 'house arrest' on June 19 by a decision of the Special Appeal.

The circumstances of Emiljano Nina's presence in Selman's apartment remain unclear.

Nina was arrested in May 2023 in the 5 May area of ​​Tirana, a few months after a horrific accident at the Lake Dam on August 22, 2023.

Santiago Malko, considered a close associate of Ervis Martinaj, was shot dead on August 27, 2019 in Tirana. Martinaj's rival group, Leonard Duka's, has been accused of killing the former police officer. It is suspected that Malko's elimination was the result of the clashes that Duka-Martinaj had started at that time. The event was fully revealed by communications on the "SkyECC" application, which spoke of the serious assassination. 

Along with Islam, the GJKKO has also sentenced Leonard Duka, Farmir Hyseni, Aleksandër Maxhaku, Dritan Aga and Oltian Loga to prison.
