The Carabinieri of Monza seized 16 kg of cocaine, 800 grams of hashish and arrested two brothers of Albanian origin (respectively 43 and 47 years old), who are suspected of being the keepers and custodians of the drugs.
The flash started in the early hours of the morning when the police, monitoring the movements of the suspects through cameras, framed one of the two brothers leaving the house with a large backpack.
The drugs were hidden in a shed on the Parish's farmland.
This immediately appeared suspicious to the police, given that the man had no connection to any Parish Community initiative. After the intervention, the police found 7 kg of cocaine, 542 grams of hash and 21,400 euros.
The next day, the suspect, who returned to the scene and realized he had been discovered, decided to make a hasty escape by taking the first one-way flight to Albania.
However, the carabinieri managed to track him down at Malpensa airport, where he had passed check-in and was already on board the plane on the runway. He was escorted and transferred to the prison of Busto Arsizio.
The operations continued with the house control of the arrested person, making it possible to find another 280 g of hashish hidden in the basement.
The searches have also been extended to the brother's apartment, in Seveso, who had hidden another 9 kg of cocaine inside the garage, hidden in a safe on the floor and on which wardrobes were placed to hide it.
It is estimated that the seized amount, probably destined for the drug trafficking squares in Monza della Brianza, would have fetched over 1.5 million euros once it was on the market.
