Tirana Traffic Police has continued intensive checks on main roads and high-traffic roads, with the aim of preventing accidents and increasing road safety.

According to the balance sheet of the last week, the Traffic Police services, supported by monitoring with modern means, have found a total of 12,505 violations of road traffic rules.

During this period, 24 cases of criminal offenses in the field of road traffic were identified, while the perpetrators were arrested or criminally prosecuted.

Also, a driver was criminally prosecuted for attempting to bribe a Traffic Police officer by offering him 2,000 lek, in order to avoid an administrative measure, after he was caught driving without wearing a seat belt.

As part of the controls, the Traffic Police have imposed 74 administrative measures for failure to properly position vehicles on the roadway, a violation that favors dangerous maneuvers and creates traffic difficulties.

Also, 12 drivers who were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol were punished, while 31 vehicles that were stopped or parked in violation of the Road Code were removed with a lifting vehicle.

1,562 administrative measures have been imposed for using a mobile phone while driving, not wearing a seat belt, and not wearing a protective helmet for motor vehicle drivers.

The Traffic Police calls on all road users to respect traffic rules, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol or without a driving license, and show responsibility, in order to increase road safety and prevent accidents.
