Starting from the early hours of today, the carabinieri of the investigative unit, developed a wide operation in the provinces of Turin and Frosinone as well as in the Albanian territory with the execution of preventive measures in the prison and control.
All within the framework of an investigation to combat international drug trafficking, coordinated by the Antimafia district directorate of Turin and in cooperation with the international police cooperation service, the security expert's office in Tirana and Interpol.
In the investigative activity, conventionally called ' Car Wash ', as it originated from the investigations into the managers of car washes who illegally managed several marijuana plantations, the investigators reconstructed the pieces of an association with a logistics base in Volvera, where in 2022 arrested a 62-year-old man with 200 kilograms of drugs hidden in his house.
The group operated between Ecuador, Belgium, France, Spain and Italy and is suspected of supplying major Italian drug trafficking centers with significant quantities of cocaine, hashish and marijuana.
According to the Carabinieri's findings, the organization was run by two brothers of Albanian origin who, using considerable financial resources, recruited 'drug workers' in Italy and Albania.
These associates in all likelihood had the purpose of keeping, transporting and selling narcotics in the territory.
The traffickers had, among other things, designed and tested a small submarine that could be piloted remotely, possibly for drug transport purposes.
The vehicle, actually built, had not yet been put into operation. However, tests have been carried out to use it within the Lago Grande of Avigliana.
During the investigations, conducted from November 2021 to the end of 2022, investigators intercepted several drug shipments and seized over 204 kilograms, including cocaine, hashish and marijuana.
The cocaine most likely arrived in Italy from South America, passing through the Netherlands, while the rest transited through Spain and France, using cars equipped with homemade double floors.
