On September 15, 2018, " Air Albania " made its first flight.
It was a symbolic flight to Istanbul, the passengers were students of excellence who were also accompanied by Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Before the departure, Rama gave a short speech.
"I only came to escort your group and I am convinced that you are the best leg for our flagship company", declared the Prime Minister.
Five years later, things are not going as hoped for the flagship company. Faced with the increased competition of international companies, today the flagship company is in financial difficulties.
From the data in the National Business Center, Air Albania , the company has been placed under seizure for non-payment of salary to the Turkish citizen, Sinan Isek . The latter has held the position of chief of flight operations, as well as staff trainer of the company with the Albanian flag, but where 49 percent of the shares are owned by Turkish Airlines.
For not receiving the salary, Isek filed a lawsuit in the court of first instance in Tirana. The latter gave him the right and the decision became final on October 4. On November 6, the order to impose a conservative seizure on the company's shares and quotas was submitted to the National Business Center.
The sequestration measure may also be a consequence of bureaucracies, lack of coordination, or legal negligence on the part of the company.
But essentially imposing a garnishment for non-payment of wages suggests that the company's financial problems are deeper than that.
The company has not submitted the financial balances for the year 2022, while the financial balances of previous years are missing in the historical extract of the CKB.
How the establishment of "Air Albania" began:
In June 2018, the Government started the procedures for the creation of the company with three partners, where the Albanian state itself owns only 10 percent of the shares through the company AlbControl.
The Turkish company, " Turkish Airlines " owns 49 percent of them, while the company " MDN Investment " owns the other 41 percent in Sinan Idrizin.
The tripartite agreement was approved by the Albanian government on September 11, 2018. The three partners of the "Air Albania" company, according to the agreement, cannot alienate or sell the quotas they have in the company for a period of 5 years, which has already expired.
Turkish citizen Sinan Dilek was appointed the first administrator of the company, a position he continues to hold. The company, according to the documents submitted to the KKB, had a basic capital of 100 thousand ALL.
