Agim Kajmaku, the former mayor of Vora went to Italy a week before he was arrested by Marches police at noon on May 25, 2022, accused of hiding 20 kilograms of cocaine inside flower vases he bought for his business.
According to data from the TIMS system, Agim Kajmaku traveled by plane from Tirana to Ancona on May 20, while 5 days later he was arrested in flagrante delicto near a nursery in Grottamare, near San Benedeto di Tronto, together with his nephew. According to the Italian police, the nephew of the former mayor is Edmond Kajmaku, born in 1988, now 34 years old, resident in Monte Rubiano, Italy.
After the arrest of Kajmaku in Italy, an operation was carried out in Albania, in the Port of Durres, this truck driven by the brother of the former mayor, Ladi Kajmaku. As can be seen in these pictures, the floor of the emptied truck has been modified with places suitable for those transporting drugs, but inside them only parts of the bucket and not drugs have been found.
This truck with license plates AA 324 ZL, which was used by Kajmak's brother, turns out to be in the assets of the flower company AME 2020 in which the former mayor was a shareholder and today is owned by his wife. According to the verifications of the Albanian police, the truck traveled from Durrës to Bari, Italy, on May 23, while its destination was the Netherlands to get flowers.
Following the news of the arrest of Agim Kajmaku, the truck returned on May 26 to the Port of Durres where it was seized after a search. It is not known and remains to be verified by the authorities, whether this truck came out in the same condition from Albania, ie modified with drug sites, or has avoided controls through corruption, writes Shqiptarja.
It is not known whether the day this truck left there were drugs on board, or it was simply tested whether the scanner scan in the Port of Durres would spot the modified floor with seats filled with breadcrumbs. Currently, the Italian and Albanian police are investigating whether we are dealing with an international drug trafficking network, or it was all a test to test the customs controls for the passage of drugs from Albania to Italy and vice versa.
