The Competition Authority in Albania has confirmed the increase of hotel prices for the dates 23-25 ​​May due to the holding of the Conference League final in Tirana. The Competition Authority has called on hotels to offer services at reasonable prices.

"Based on some disturbing information in the media regarding the immediate increase of prices by companies that provide hotel services or other similar accommodations in the city of Tirana, in the framework of the final match of the Conference League between the teams Roma-Feyenoord , which will take place in Tirana on May 25, 2022, the Competition Authority decided to monitor this market.

From the monitoring of online platforms that offer accommodation reservations as well as from field monitoring were identified very high prices for the dates 23-25 ​​May 2022, compared to other periods of the year.

The Competition Authority requests the companies that provide accommodation services in hotels and similar accommodations in the city of Tirana: - to provide services at reasonable prices, cost-oriented; - not to cancel early bookings in order to resell at the last minute at several times higher prices.

The Competition Authority informs the companies that provide accommodation service in hotels and similar accommodation in the city of Tirana that, if at the end of the investigation it results that the immediate and unjustified increase of the price of accommodation service in hotels and accommodation "similar will be found in violation of the provisions of law no. 9121/2003" On Protection of Competition ", violators of the law will be punished with fines up to 10% of the turnover of the previous financial year," said the Competition Authority.
