Journalist Artan Hoxha has given details of the seizure of 320 kg of cocaine in the Port of Piraeus, which came from Latin America, an event that led to the imprisonment of several Albanians from Patos, among them 54-year-old Asdren Muharremi.
Hoxha said in the show "The Unexposed" that the drug was not destined for Albania, as has been said in the Greek media, but would be sold in Greece.
The journalist described the captured Albanian, Muharremi, as a businessman with "regular businesses" in Albania.
" The last case of Piraeus, we have drug trafficking from Latin America. The Greek media tried to bring it out as a traffic line coming to Albania, but the group caught from Patos, dealing in exotic fruits... Asdren Muharremi, 54 years old, a from the names. The last passport that he got in 2022. He has a previous history. He was involved in heroin trafficking in Greece and he was involved in trafficking of narcotics.
In 2017, there was also the famous war in Syria and it is a case investigated by the Greek prosecution because his group had created a laboratory and produced a narcotic, which was called the drug of jihadists. It was produced in the heart of Athens and taken to the Middle East. He was convicted and not caught. He was with Greek officers in this case as well.
One of the associates who starts the shipments from Latin America, a known Greek citizen, pursued by the DEA, has been arrested for selling weapons, exchanging weapons for cocaine, and collaborating with the FARC. He was extradited to the USA, he served prison time there.
The amount captured was captured with inside information. There were two containers of shrimp that came from Ecuador. They are some large shrimps that come from the Pacific. Somewhere around 8 million euros at the wholesale price has been captured, because then it goes to 30 or so million euros, the market price. The Greek citizen was captured. The shipment came from Panama, so they have connections and the suspicions are that the Greek citizen has these connections and the Albanian enters the part in Piraeus.
It was said that the drug would come to Albania, but it turns out that it would be sold in Greece. So, it was not for Albania. The person who was caught, Muharremi, turns out to have regular and declared businesses in Albania. Other Albanian citizens and some Turks were also captured.
Investigations have begun to find other members supplied by this organization.
What attracts attention, the group has previous activity, it has a precedent but rather it has done money laundering. It is an investigation that should be done by our authorities. We are following the consolidated lines ," said Hoxha.
