Denis and his mother

More than 16 years after the tragic event that dramatically changed his life, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched for Denis Dollapi, with the aim of providing him with the medical equipment and support necessary to live with more dignity.

The campaign is being run by Brandon's nonprofit organization Forever 22 Legacy, which helps individuals and families facing serious health and financial hardship. Donations raised through GoFundMe are being collected for the organization's account.

Denis Dollapi remains paralyzed and is fed through a tube, while his mother has cared for him 24 hours a day for more than 16 years. According to the organization, she has sacrificed everything to provide her son with the necessary care, despite great physical and financial difficulties.

The campaign's goal is to raise $30,000, which will be used to purchase medical equipment and ease the burden of daily care.

Among the equipment intended to be provided are a medical crane for patient transport, which would enable Denis to be moved from his bed without his mother physically lifting him, as well as a medically-specified electric wheelchair, which would allow him to sit more safely and move more easily.

The campaign also aims to provide feeding tubes and other medical supplies, while a portion of the funds will go towards specialized medical visits and long-term support for Denis and his mother.

The event that changed his life

Denis Dollapi was seriously injured on April 28, 2010, near the "Sami Frashëri" high school in Tirana, during a physical clash between rival groups of fans of rappers Noizy and Stresi. While the latter has given a different version of the event.

The locker was attacked by a group of young men following an earlier conflict between supporters of two rival music camps. During the fight, which involved the use of sharp objects, knives and iron bars, he was stabbed 11 times in the body.

The injuries were so severe that Denis ended up in a coma. From that day on, his life and that of his family changed forever.

Today, after 16 years, the campaign aims to give Denis the opportunity to have the equipment he needs and his mother concrete support after years of uninterrupted care.

"Every contribution restores dignity and eases the pain of this family," says the message from the Brandon Forever 22 Legacy organization, which appeals to citizens to contribute to the campaign.
