14 years after the January 21 event where 4 protesters lost their lives, Ziver Veiz's family members still demand justice for the people who caused this serious incident.
"We are gathered today to commemorate our uncle. We will not find peace until justice is served in the country. It has been 14 years since that tragic murder. Where all the perpetrators of that state crime have not been punished.
"We ask nothing more from the competent bodies, from SPAK, than to implement the decision of the Strasbourg Court of First Instance and to bring justice as soon as possible for the 4 victims of January 21st," Ziver Veiz's granddaughter told the media.
At the memorial ceremony that took place in the cemetery of the village of Zenelaj, representatives of the local government, family members and friends of the deceased were present.
"January 21, the state of that time turned it into a war against its people. We were many at that time protesting against corruption, smuggling, justice. We had time, but that day was bloodied and as such it became a loss. Our comrades, Aleks Nika, Hekuran Deda, Faik Myrtaj and Ziver Veizi, were killed.
"4 martyrs. Many others were injured. We are concerned that peace has not found its place. We will continue to commemorate them even when justice is done. May our comrades of that day be unforgettable," says Shkëlqim Guçe, one of the protesters at that time.
