The British newspaper " The Telegraph " has dedicated a long article to the businesses that Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner are trying to set up in the Mediterranean, increasingly emerging as key figures in global business, closely following Donald Trump's famous philosophy of "the art of the deal."
While the American president backed away from trying to annex Greenland, his daughter was making a big move in the Mediterranean: securing a deal to develop the island of Sazan in Albania.
Ivanka Trump, 44, and Jared Kushner, through their investment company Atlantic Incubation Partners LLC, have reached an agreement with the Albanian government to turn Sazan, an uninhabited island and former military base, The Telegraph reports, into a luxury tourist resort. The investment is estimated to be worth around £1 billion ($1.4 billion), making the project one of the largest foreign investments in Albania.

Atlantic Incubation Partners is affiliated with Affinity Partners, a private equity fund founded by Kushner after Donald Trump left the White House in 2020, which has attracted billions of dollars, including funds from Saudi Arabia. According to Forbes, the Trump-Kushner couple's combined wealth is estimated at about $1.1 billion, ranking them as the second-richest members of the Trump family, after the president himself.

Ivanka Trump visited Albania for several days, accompanied by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who has openly embraced the vision of luxury investment. Rama has described the project as a strategic opportunity for the development of elite tourism, stating that “Albania needs super-luxury like the desert needs water.”
The Albanian Strategic Investment Committee gave the green light to the project on December 30, 2024, a few weeks after Donald Trump won the presidential election. The plan calls for the construction of a luxury hotel, private villas and necessary infrastructure on an island that currently has no drinking water sources. The project is expected to create about 1,000 jobs.

However, the deal has sparked controversy, writes “The Telegraph”. Opposition MPs have raised concerns about a lack of transparency and open tendering, while environmental organisations have reacted strongly, stressing that Sazani and the Zvërnec area have protected status due to their ecological values. Dozens of groups have called on the Albanian government to suspend the project.

At the same time, Kushner's activities also extend to Serbia and the Middle East, raising questions in Washington about possible conflicts of interest, due to his unofficial role as an advisor to Donald Trump.
Despite the criticism, Ivanka Trump expressed enthusiasm for her visit, calling Albania “magical.” With Donald Trump in the White House and their growing influence, it seems that Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner will continue to play an important role in the intersection of politics, business, and global diplomacy.
