11-year-old sexually abused by her relative, institutions delay procedures

Piranjas addressed the case of a girl aged just 12 who a year ago, when she was just 11, was sexually abused by her 35-year-old cousin's husband, a father of one child.

The minor says that in August 2023, during the summer holidays she went to her aunt in the village of Golem in the city of Kavaja to stay for a few days with the family's young children and her cousins, namely the wife of 35-year-old Elton Sina.

The 35-year-old had communicated with the girl on her Instagram, while he dinged the minor his sympathy for her, accumulated for years, telling her specifically that when she was a little girl he held her in his lap and vented his lusts, while relatives thought Elton cared too much for the little one.

The minor tells Piranjat that the abuse occurred at a moment when she was alone in the bedroom, while taking care of the family's little ones.

In fact, the whole situation had come about gradually after the 35-year-old stayed in the 35-year-old had been harassed several times, even in the presence of other relatives while the minor slept. The family of the young girl say that once they were made aware of the situation, the father called the family's son-in-hand, the 35-year-old abuser. In response, the abuser sends an sms to her apologizing for all the gestures she had made, somehow admitting everything she had done with the underage girl.

The father of the minor says that he immediately turned to the Italian police to make a report, but in response he was told that the report should be made in Albania as well after the event happened there.

The relatives of the minor return to Albania and address the Kavaja Police Station where they make the call, the OMO of the commissariat after receiving the demotion said that for the girl's forensic expertise and other procedures would be called very soon by him to bring the girl to Albania.

But from October 2023 the family of the minor has not received a call and moreover no phone call.

At the time when the court proceedings had begun in Italy, the family reached a decision by the Bolognia City Court that the case was closed because the event occurred in Albania, despite the minor and the abuser being both persons with Italian nationality.

The mother of the minor, the father, and the sister of the minor indicate that they have received no reaction and no response from the Albanian justice despite having every photo of the conversation between the 35-year-old and the minor, as he wrote that he would go to see her and at the moment of the meeting the girl had to wear the underwear that he liked.
