Fatmir Xhafaj/ Erion Veliaj/ Bledi Çuçi

The Ministry of Justice has responded to the letter from MPs Bledi Çuçi and Fatmir Xhafaj regarding the transfer of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj from Durrës prison to Fier.

The Ministry of Justice has informed MPs that the entire procedure followed for Veliaj's transfer is currently being inspected and verified.

Çuçi and Xhafaj had previously addressed an official letter to the Minister of Justice, Toni Gogu, requesting information on how the transfer was carried out and whether all legal procedures had been respected.

The two MPs asked to be acquainted with the documentation and institutional steps followed for this decision. Meanwhile, in a reaction made to the media yesterday, the Directorate of Prisons described the procedure of transferring Veliaj to Fier as an investigative secret.
