Kosovo drew 1-1 at home against Switzerland in the final qualifying match for the 2026 World Cup.

During this match, Granit Xhaka was booed every time he touched the ball. The reason was a statement made about two young Albanian players, Albian Hajdari and Leon Avdullahu, whom Xhaka considered not ready to receive significant playing time in the Helvetic national team, taking Ardon Jashari as an example.

After the match, Xhaka said he was surprised by this situation and that he had not expected it at all.

"I'm surprised I got booed. It hurts, but I have to accept it. I try to just focus on football. Unfortunately, that's part of the game," Xhaka said.
