Jasir Asani is the man of the moment in Albania. The winger is the main protagonist of the Reds and Blacks in these qualifiers with three goals scored, but also with two assists.
These statistics help Albania rank first in the qualifying group and very close to the ticket to next summer's European Championship in Germany.
Recently, Asani, who is active in South Korea with the Gwangju team, has given an interview to an Italian website, where he emphasizes the importance that coach Sylvinho had in his career, as well as the possibility that in January he will be transferred to another championship, where he prefers Serie A.
"I am convinced that if we had a stadium like Camp Nou in Tirana, the Albanians would have filled it. We are a football crazy nation. In Albania, we receive tremendous love from the fans. They call us heroes on the street and we are full of messages on social networks. Sometimes I even lose my parents' messages on Instagram, there are so many of them. I thought that I would not be called to the national team again, but here I am, at the age of 28. Protagonist in an Albania that is stronger than ever.
Sylvinho changed my life, before him no coach of the national team ever considered me. I was born in Skopje, North Macedonia asked me, but I refused. I have always felt Albanian. I still remember the first phone call with Sylvinho. He called me a few hours before a match and I was so happy that I scored a hat-trick in that challenge.
I have offers from Italy, Germany, Arabia and Spain, in January I expect to move to one of these leagues. But, like every Albanian, I am also obsessed with Serie A. Everyone in Albania, in addition to supporting an Albanian team, also supports an Italian club.
The goal against Poland was amazing. I may have seen it a thousand more times. At one point during the match, Szczęsny approached me and complimented me. He told me that he never expected me to hit from that position", concluded Jasir Asani.
