Inter head into Saturday's UEFA Champions League final clash with treble-chasing Manchester City.

But while many would dread the prospect of facing the Premier League and FA Cup champions, who are regarded as one of the best sides in world football, Simone Inzaghi's side have reason for optimism. Seven reasons, in fact.

With an impressive seven-game winning streak in his finals, the Italian coach will be well equipped to take on his Spanish counterpart on Saturday.

He will be hoping to continue that record to cause a major upset and destroy City's treble hopes.

To find Inzaghi's first defeat in a final as a manager, you have to go back to the 2016-17 season.

The Italian took charge of Lazio in April 2016 and a year later managed to lead them to a Coppa Italia final. There, they played against a formidable team like Juventus that was filled with stars like Gonzalo Higuain, Paulo Dybala, Dani Alves or Claudio Marchisio.

However, it was only a matter of months before Lazio found themselves in another final and with a chance for revenge.

As Juventus had won both the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia, this meant that Lazio were awarded a place in the Italian Super Cup as they were runners-up in the cup.

Facing the team that had crushed their Coppa Italia dreams only a few months earlier was the perfect opportunity to get revenge on the "Old Lady".

Inzaghi's side ran out 3-2 winners that evening thanks to a brace from Immobile and another from Alessandro Murgia.

The victory saw Lazio win their fourth ever Italian Super Cup and helped start a successful period for the club.

They won the Coppa Italia two years later during the 2018-19 season after a 2-0 win over Atalanta before winning the Supercoppa just a few months later.

Facing Juventus once again, Inzaghi's side recorded a 3-1 win over a side that boasted a superstar like Cristiano Ronaldo.

The successes would see Inzaghi wanted by Inter in May 2021, where he has continued his winning streak in the final. Inzaghi took over at Inter following the departure of Antonio Conte, who had just won a historic Scudetto for the club.

It meant Inzaghi would be involved in the 2021 Italian Super Cup, which they clinched with a 2-1 win against Juventus, thanks to an Alexis Sanchez goal in the dying moments of extra time.

Inzaghi's first season was nothing short of a success and in his first year they faced the "Old Lady" once again in the Coppa Italia final and won it 4-2 after extra time extra.

Ivan Perisic scored a brace, along with goals from Hakan Çalhanoglu and Nicolo Barella as Inzaghi added another major trophy to his tally.

It was almost a historic double for the club, but they lost the Serie A title to rivals Milan, who won Serie A by just two points.

However, Inzaghi got his revenge soon after by thrashing them 3-0 in the Italian Super Cup in January this year.

And Inzaghi's most recent success in the final was a 2-1 triumph over Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia just days before, thanks to a brace from Lautaro Martinez.

Despite City's dominance in England, it's safe to say Inzaghi and his side will be full of confidence going into Saturday's game.

Inzaghi and his Inter team are not to be underestimated.
