The Palestinian Football Federation announced the death of its former national team player, Suleiman Al-Obeid, who was widely known as the "Pelé of Palestine."
Al-Obeid lost his life after an attack by Israeli forces on people waiting for humanitarian aid in the southern Gaza Strip.
The 41-year-old father of five children began his career at Khadamat Al-Shati, then joined Al-Amari Youth Center in the occupied West Bank and later Gaza Sports Club.
During his long career, Al-Obeid scored over 100 goals, becoming one of the stars of Palestinian football.
The Palestinian Federation stressed that the number of sports people who have lost their lives has reached 321, including players, coaches, administrators, referees and members of its board.
While FIFA refuses to ban Israel from its competitions, Israel has killed hundreds of football players in Gaza since October 2023.
