Bournemouth have confirmed that Alex Jimenez has been left out of their squad for Saturday's match against Fulham, after they opened an investigation into messages exchanged on social media between Jimenez and a 15-year-old girl.
Jimenez has made 32 appearances for Bournemouth this season and has started the last five Premier League games.
In a statement released on Friday, the club said: "AFC Bournemouth is aware of posts circulating on social media involving right-back Alex Jimenez.
"The club understands the seriousness of the matter and is currently investigating. As a result, Alex will not be included in the squad for tomorrow's Premier League match against Fulham and the club will not be making any further comment at this time."
Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola spoke about the situation before the match.
"The club needs to do its own investigation and see what really happened. Then we will move forward. I hope it is not what we think," he said.
Jimenez, who turned 21 on Friday, joined from Milan in a £17m deal in February after a loan spell, signing a five-and-a-half-year contract.
The Spaniard spent several years at Real Madrid before moving to Italy in 2024.
