Pep Guardiola has been forced to miss Manchester City's upcoming matches. The Spanish coach has undergone an operation for back pain that has been causing him pain for a long time. It was the club itself that gave the details in a press conference.
"Our coach has been suffering from severe back pain recently. He flew to Barcelona to be operated on by Dr. Mireia Illueca. The intervention was successful and Pep has now started his rehabilitation period in Barcelona," reads the City announcement.
Guardiola will be absent until after the international break in September. Juanma Lillo will take charge of training and will be on the bench for the next two Premier League games against Sheffield United and Fulham. Guardiola will return against West Ham on September 16.
