Bridging the world of elite sports with Hollywood cinema, football legend Cristiano Ronaldo and acclaimed director Matthew Vaughn have created UR•Marv, a joint film studio.

This independent studio aims to disrupt the conventional way of making films by “embracing innovative technology, while respecting tradition.” The partnership has already yielded tangible results – two action films have been completed, which Vaughn and Ronaldo co-financed and produced through UR•Marv Studios – while a third film is currently in active development, all part of the same series.

Details about the first film will be revealed soon, writes Variety.

"This is an exciting chapter for me as I look forward to new business ventures," Ronaldo said.

"Cristiano has created stories on the field that I could never have written and I can't wait to create inspiring films with him - he's a real-life superhero," Vaughn added.

Vaughn, a British director known for his stylized and dynamic storytelling, has carved out a niche for himself in the action genre.

His directorial work includes titles such as Layer Cake (2004), Kick-Ass (2010), and X-Men: First Class (2011), each of which reflects his penchant for mixing witty humor with powerful action.

In 2014, Vaughn rose to the forefront of pop culture with the Kingsman franchise, a stylish combination of espionage satire and operatic-style violence, through his production company Marv.

In 2024, Vaughn directed Argyle, a spy thriller starring Henry Cavill and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Two more films in the Kingsman franchise are in the works.

Ronaldo, the Portuguese football icon, has masterfully expanded his brand off the pitch, creating a strong presence in the media space. In October 2023, he became a key investor in Medialivre (formerly Cofina Media), a major Portuguese media conglomerate that owns well-known outlets such as Correio da Manha and Record. Showing his digital savvy, Ronaldo launched his own YouTube channel in August 2024 called UR Cristiano.

The channel offers fans an intimate look into his life through a variety of content, including personal insights and challenges.

This strategic entry into the media sector confirms Ronaldo's ambition to strengthen his influence in the entertainment industry, ensuring the longevity of his brand even after the end of his football career.
