Manchester City has announced that in the fall of 2024 the football academy will be opened in Durrës.

This football school is a collaboration between the English team Manchester City and the Albanian Ministry of Education and Sports.

"With 8 Manchester City football schools in the world, this will be the latest school. In addition to the football school, the Albanian Ministry of Education and Sports is also launching an elite academy in Autumn 2024 for local footballers aiming for the highest levels. The academy will be created in consultation with City Football Group, the parent organization of Manchester City," the English club announced.

The news was also welcomed by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who announced that the construction site in Durrës will open in the spring.

"Good news, the official declaration of the beginning of the journey of the school of champions of Manchester City in Albania. The process is ready after a joint work and the campus project is also ready. In the spring we will open the construction site in Durrës, where we will have one of the most beautiful campuses of the Manchester City constellation in the world", writes Prime Minister Edi Rama on social networks.

The agreement between the Albanian Government and Manchester City to create a football school in Durrës was signed in April 2023.
