Bad news for fans/ Lamine Yamal may miss the World Cup

Lamine Yamal has worried everyone after his injury yesterday in the 40th minute against Celta Vigo, after winning a penalty and converting it himself.

Initial reports are that he has suffered a muscle strain and will be out for about a month, while today's tests will eliminate all doubts about his presence in the remainder of La Liga and most importantly in the World Cup.

Speaking to Cadena SER radio, sports medicine specialist Pedro Luis Ripoll indicated that the hamstring muscles, where Yamal was injured, are often a complicated area.

"This injury has a 30% recurrence rate, so you have to be very careful. You have to be extremely careful with the recovery timeline."

If the injury is located in the 'belly' of the muscle, the injury may be more serious, meaning at least four to six weeks of absence.

"It's too early to say at this point whether it looks more like a tear or a strain. However, coaches like Luis de la Fuente want their players to be healthy and in good shape. I think it's impossible for him to be called up, because the recovery rate is 30% and that would mean losing a player for the World Cup," he explained.

With 50 days until the World Cup, it remains to be seen how the injury will progress. The specialist urged "maximum caution" until the official medical report on the player is available.
