Michel Platini won three Ballon d'Or trophies in 1983, 1984 and 1985 with Juventus, but even the former UEFA president is not immune from robberies.
The 70-year-old was robbed at home near Marseille in France, and initial information suggests 20 trophies are missing from the trophy cabinet, as well as medals of great sentimental and monetary value.
During the morning of July 18, a thief forced his way into Platini's home and stole several trophies and medals of invaluable economic and sentimental value.
Awakened by noises coming from the garden, the former Juventus star went downstairs at around 5:30 a.m. to check the property.
After spotting a thief running away, he raised the alarm and notified the police.
According to an initial check after the theft, around twenty items were stolen from the trophy room located in an annex of the former French champion's house, but an exact list of the cups, medals and sports awards lost has not yet been compiled.
According to RTL, while the damage to the house is still being assessed, the Marseille prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into theft, without any evidence of the perpetrator.
Deeply shaken by the incident, Platini fortunately escaped unharmed.
