Unbelievable but true/ Seismic tremors recorded in Norway after Haaland's

Erling Haaland's brace on his World Cup debut shook not only the Iraqi defence but also the Norwegian underbelly. During Norway's 4-1 win, seismic stations in Bergen actually recorded slight tremors coinciding with the striker's goals.

"Overnight, the Bergen seismic station recorded clear signals during the match between Norway and Iraq. The strongest vibrations coincided with Erling Haaland's goals, which provoked strong reactions from the celebrations of the Norwegian fans," the University of Bergen, which manages the tremor detection system, said in a statement.

The data shows a peak coinciding with key moments in the match, particularly the two goals scored by the Norwegian centre-forward. According to the researchers, the signals came from the audience's reaction.

"The signals were most likely caused by the screams and celebrations of the fans who were watching the match in Bergen," experts explain, pointing out that when many people react simultaneously at large sporting events, the combined movements can generate ground vibrations that are picked up by seismometers.

Such a phenomenon is not new; analog instruments have also recorded such vibrations during large concerts or other sporting events, such as the Ed Sheeran concert in Oslo, when tens of thousands of people produced measurable signals underground. In the case of Norway, it was not a real earthquake, but a great enthusiasm enough to record a seismic tremor that coincided with the Manchester City striker's double.
