Luciano Spalletti is no longer the coach of the Italian national team.

After the heavy defeat against Norway and facing a wave of harsh criticism - including statements from the president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), Gabriele Gravina, the coach confirmed his departure from the post.

In a press conference held today, Spalletti stated: "I met with the president and we spoke at length. He communicated to me that he had dismissed me from my position. I never wanted to leave this position, it was not my intention."

The coach emphasized that he accepts the decision and takes responsibility for the results.

"There is a dismissal and I take it into consideration, as do the results we had. I take full responsibility for them," he added.

Spalletti also confirmed that he will sign the consensual resolution after the last match he will manage – the one against Moldova.

This is a chapter that ends with disappointment for a coach who started with high expectations, but who failed to restore the brilliance of the "Azzurri" in the international arena.

The federation is expected to announce the name of the new coach in the coming days.
