It may seem strange, but Brazil is in danger of being left out of the World Cup, for the first time in history. FIFA and South American Football Confederation CONMEBOL have sent a warning letter to the Brazilian Football Confederation (Cbf), saying it will suspend it and all Brazilian clubs unless the presidency issue is resolved at once short and without external interference.
An action prompted by the decision of the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro, which on December 7 removed Ednaldo Rodrigues from the presidency of the Brazilian Confederation, for alleged irregularities in his election, prompted FIFA and CONMEBOL to send the emergency letter, showing also a the rules of the method of determination, of the President of the Confederation.
"The rules are clear. The intervention of external forces is not allowed in any way. FIFA-affiliated federations must manage their affairs independently and without undue influence from third parties", says the letter sent by FIFA and CONMEBOL, with the organizations, which on January 8 will send a delegation, in Rio de Janeiro, to find a solution to the crisis.
