Today's parliamentary session started with a debate after the election of the new head of the Guard of the Republic. The head of the democratic parliamentary group, Gazmet Bardhi, has asked Speaker of Parliament Elisa Spiropali to set up an ethical commission regarding the amendment to the Guard law approved in March of this year. According to the head of the democratic group, this was a law commissioned to elect a man who was outside the system at the head of this institution.
"I want to raise a case for procedure; September 10, 2024, the new Minister of the Interior announced that after a great competition, he had chosen the new director of the Guard of the Republic. In fact, the new director was elected before the changes to the law on the Guard that was approved by this parliament".
In his answer, the Speaker of the Parliament, Elisa Spiropali, said that "this matter is not for procedure".
But Bardhi went on to accuse the majority; "For you, political corruption is not a procedure."
He said that the opposition had announced the election of the new head of the Republic Guard at the time when the amendments to the law were approved, calling this a classic act of corruption.
"In March, when you were approving the changes, you were told that it is an investment by name and surname to elect a man who was outside the system as the head of the Guard, you denied it and voted for him all according to Rama's will, and 6 months later the name we gave him said he was elected through an open competition, said the Minister of the Interior, while he was elected by us in March 2024. There is no more corrupt act than forcing 74 honorable colleagues of the majority to vote for the interests of an individual a law of ordered. This is a pure criminal offense. It is corruption. It is a classic case of corruption", quotes A2 Bardhin.
He requested that an ethical commission be set up to verify how this law was brought and voted in the parliament, before the opposition follows the legal steps.
"Before we take the steps, you as the president of the assembly should set up an ethical commission to verify how the law was sponsored? who forced the deputies to vote on a name that Rama signed on September 24, in fact he had chosen as an oligarch's investment since February 24. Soli forced the deputies to vote and then pretended to follow the procedure. Custom laws have become tradition, routine and normality for this majority. Is it your responsibility to set up an ethics commission and investigate how the law came about? Who brought the law? Why was it voted and how was it voted? And then the opposition will pursue all legal avenues, because we are in front of a commissioned law that constitutes corruption".
On September 10, Ermal Onuzi took over the leadership of the Guard of the Republic. He was introduced by the Minister of the Interior, Ervin Hoxha, who expressed his confidence to continue the work started and to be an elite force.
Onuzi was selected among 6 candidates for the head of this institution; Artan Didit, Dritan Osmanit, Krenar Charcanit, Klajdi Hajredinajt and Jona Lamkos
