The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, has expressed his condolences for the serious incident in Fier, where a 28-year-old police officer was killed, allegedly after a banal momentary conflict.
Balla said that all law enforcement agencies are engaged in a search operation, and hopes that this process will "conclude as soon as possible."
"It should be impressed on everyone's mind that it is unacceptable to raise a hand against a police officer, worse than that, to use a weapon", said Balla, as he called on the suspected perpetrator to surrender.
"The case in Fier, as I have been informed so far, I want to express in this case the pain I feel, to encourage the State Police who are doing everything to arrest the perpetrator an hour ago. We must do everything to impress upon everyone that it is unacceptable to raise a hand against a police officer, worse than that, to use a weapon. I trust that the national security force, RENEA and the State Police forces, will conclude with this search process. Here I want to make a call to the family members and the person on whom the accusation is heavy, to surrender", Minister Balla said.
